About Mike

MAGIC • COMEDY • PERSONALITY • EXPERIENCE

More than a magician.
A professional entertainer.

Mike Thornton is an award-winning Detroit-based magician and mentalist who has spent decades entertaining audiences with a combination of astonishing sleight of hand, audience interaction and, perhaps most importantly, a genuinely funny personality.

Mike’s interest in magic began at an early age and led him to study at the renowned Chavez Studio of Magic under Neil Foster. His career has taken him from working behind the counter at the legendary Romig Magic shop to performing professionally for corporations, associations, private events, hospitality venues and audiences throughout Michigan and beyond.

Along the way, Mike has also appeared on television, including Oopsy the Clown, Daedal Doors and Kidsworld Magazine. His experience both onstage and up close helped shape the style he performs today—polished enough for a corporate ballroom, yet personal and spontaneous enough to make guests feel as though the magic is happening just for them.

A corporate entertainment specialist

Corporate entertainment has become one of Mike’s specialties. His performances combine smart comedy, impossible magic and audience participation in a show designed specifically for adult and business audiences. The material is clean, never offensive, and volunteers are treated as part of the fun rather than the target of the joke. Whether he’s working a room during a cocktail reception or taking the stage after dinner, the goal is the same: connect with the audience, make them laugh and give them something they’ll still be talking about after the event.

Selected clients include IBM, Chevrolet, Domino’s, DTE Energy, Tenneco, Adient, Real Estate One, LSPedia, Pita Way, Hewlett-Packard, JDRF and many others.

That’s why he calls it Deceptively Funny Magic.
